  • 1.  Community Names and How They Are Sorted.

The naming of Communities is inconsistent and results in their being listed in a somewhat disconcerting order.

Some of the Communities named for particular Standards or Safety Guidelines have names starting with the document designator, e.g., "S12 Task Force - North America"; others precede the document designator with "SEMI", e.g., "SEMI E72 Revision Task Force - North America".  We should standardize either on having or not having the "SEMI".

Also, as CONNECT sorts alphabetically, not alphanumerically, "23" precedes "3".  Therefore, I suggest we standardize on three-digit numbers (based on there being some letters of designators with more than 99 documents), using leading zeros to get CONNECT to sort Communities named for documents in the correct order.  For example, change "S1" to "S001", "S3" to "S003", and "S23" to "S023", so that they get listed in that order.

This is a "nice to have", not a "need to have" item, so it's of much lower priority than, for example, fixing the unwarranted and unexplained ejections from Communities in which I'm an Admin.

    Colleagues,

FWLIW, I put my metaphorical money (actually just several minutes of my morning) where my mouth is.

I changed the names of several of my Communities (e.g., S1, S3, S12) to begin with the name of the maintained Safety Guideline, using three digit numbering (e.g., S001, S003, S012).

I also added (in one case replaced) the brief descriptions that appear on the lists of Communities.

I invite those of you who are Admins for other Communities related to "S" documents to do the same.  It's a relatively easy process:
    a)  Go to the Community home page
    b)  Click on the "Settings" box
    c)  Click on "Settings"
    d)  Edit the name of the Community
    e)  Add or modify the description
    f)  Click on "Save"

    Eric
